Meet The Team

Lauren

To begin with, I set about achieving my A Levels with the aim of being accepted into Worcester University to train as a Midwife. To earn my way I began working in the Pet Shop every Saturday and began volunteering at a local Dog Rescue. I was offered a place at Uni but decided that it wasn’t for me as I was more interested in animals!

Instead, I switched to Holme Lacy College and secured a placement at a Veterinary Surgery, which did mean I had to leave the Pet Shop for a while so I could train as a Veterinary Nurse. Whilst waiting to find out if I had passed my finals I took the opportunity to run the shop as a Manager and buy half the business. Shortly afterwards I found out that I had passed my finals too and was now a qualified Veterinary Nurse!

I love running the shop and helping customers with animal related queries, however unusual! My geek out is using my VN qualification to help customers by providing accurate and sound advice from a knowledgeable background and understanding when it is right for a vet to be contacted and not delaying that.

I started in our Hereford branch when I was about 14 helping to stock the shelves and then in later years joined the lovely Leominster team and now work across the two. Having been part of the team for such a time, I am very familiar with the products we have to offer, the favourites as well as up to date with all our new lines!

Outside of the shop I live on a small working farm so wherever I am my whole life contains animal of some sort; from our lovely 4 legged friends in the shop to pet lambs in the kitchen at home!

I love our team as we are not just colleagues but like one big family and our great customers! My geek out is really anything to do with pets but really enjoy helping customers with their queries.

Sam

I have had the privilege of working at Battersea Dog and Cats Home in London, have qualified with a HND in Animal Science & Behaviour, worked as a Lecturer in Animal Behaviour at a major College and Managed a Cat Department at one of the largest European rescue centres in The Netherlands, focusing on behavioural assessment, procedures and rehoming. I first came to work at the Pet Shop 10 years ago after leaving Holland to return home with my family. I left to have my children but have since come back.

I also work with my husband, Rick, running our business Allpositive Dog Services, providing canine behaviour and training services in Hereford, Leominster, surrounding areas and online, including behaviour consultations, 1 to1 training sessions, group training classes and various workshops.

I love our friendly, happy team and all the lovely customers who come to see us which makes it feel like a second family! My geek out is helping customers with cat and dog behaviour and training issues particularly with reference to canine nutrition and how it effects behaviour.

Sharon

Only starting about a year ago, I'm still learning everyday but have pets of my own so can relate to our customers and their needs.

I love the work and the team who have really made me feel part of the family as well as meeting our four legged friends that come in to see us - and their owners of course! My geek out is stock fulfilment & customer liaison as I enjoy making the shop look its best and looking after our customers.

Yes, there are 2 Sharon's! I am the newest member of the team but have worked in Leominster at a local animal supplies shop for many years so have a good knowledge of pet foods and equipment.

The team are great and I feel part of the Pet Centre family already! My geek out is rotating stock to keep things fresh, on trend and in season so you'll often find me tinkering with the displays when not serving our lovely customers!
